Trailhead Directions: From the Bear Mountain Bridge, turn onto Route 9D North and park anywhere alongside the road for the next quarter mile (you’re looking for the Appalachian Trail markers which are 0.25 miles north of the bridge.
Hike Directions: From Route 9D, walk north (depending on where you parked) toward the WHITE BLAZES of the Appalachian Trail. For reference, the Appalachian Trailhead is 0.25 miles north of the Bear Mountain Bridge. Enter the woods from 9D and follow the Appalachian Trail markers for 0.42 miles, ascending to an intersection with the BLUE-BLAZED Camp Smith Trail. Make a sharp RIGHT onto the Camp Smith Trail and follow 0.53 miles to a three-way intersection of trails. Veer RIGHT and follow the unmarked path 250 feet to the rocky outcropping of Anthony’s Nose. From here, retrace your steps to the Appalachian Trail, hang a LEFT on the WHITE BLAZES and follow back down to Route 9D and your car.
