Driving Directions: Take the northbound Palisades Parkway to its end at the Bear Mountain Bridge Traffic Circle, and take the third exit, for Route 9W North. Cross a bridge over Popolopen Gorge and make the immediate RIGHT after the bridge, onto the Fort Montgomery Park Road, descending downhill.  Park in the Visitor Center lot

Hours: Wednesday-Sunday, 9am-5pm. The only way to access the park other hours, is to hike in from the blue-blazed Timp-Torne / 1777 Trail, or the red-blazed Popolopen Gorge Trail.

Hike Directions: From the parking area, walk past the Visitor’s Center and turn RIGHT on the BLUE-BLAZED Twin Forts Trail.  It makes another RIGHT immediately and descends downhill to the Hudson River just 0.2 miles from the parking lot. Enjoy the view and cross the suspension bridge for interesting views of the Bear Mountain Bridge.  Walk underneath the bridge to explore Fort Clinton, or take the red blazes to the Appalachian Trail and cross the Bear Mountain Bridge.  Retrace your steps back to the Visitor Center and now, walk north past the Visitor Center and on an unmarked path uphill to the old fort ruins.  From the ruins turn RIGHT and follow unmarked paths to outcroppings over the Hudson River and Bear Mountain Bridge.  Take time to explore and eventually retrace your steps back to the parking lot.
