The Shawangunks are white bedrock ridges that span three New York counties. It’s white rock stands out from afar on the horizon, and it’s a haven for rock climbers and hikers alike. While rock climbers enjoy places like the Trapps, hikers can explore a multitude of waterfalls, three sky top lakes, and acres and acres of trails and forest. Most of the trails in the Shawangunks are not very steep because you’re either hiking on the ridge or below it. From upon the ridge, views are breathtaking – encompassing the Pine Plains, Catskill Mountains and Hudson Highlands on a clear day.
